#PlanetKidz – Summer Camps at Ontogony 2018

A Series of Camps for Ages 9 to 12; to help your child grow in Positivity, Perseverance, Self Esteem, Mindfulness & Empathy. The series of camps offers your child a journey of growth, sharing and purposeful fun! All activities are presented as games hosted at the Ontogony Centre, as well as in the surrounding outdoor areas and parks. Each week there will be a special field trip to conclude the week of camp. The areas of focus include body strength and body image; self-esteem and worth, problem solving and group cooperation; vitality and hidden potential; stress reduction and relaxation; contact and consciousness; creativity and self-expression.

Location: Ontogony Centre, 2667 West Broadway, Vancouver
Times: Monday to Friday ~ 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for each week of camp
Early Bird Tuition: $295 + GST (Extended to July 20, 2018)

Week One ~ Growing in a Positive Mindset: This week we look at the advantages of a positive mindset and how children can hone this skill. Learn how the brain is like a muscle, how mistakes can have a positive impact and the power of words.

Week Two ~ Growing in Perseverance & Mindfulness: The focus is on the power of perseverance and mindfulness, and examples of what it looks like in the real world. Children learn the importance of moving forward when times are tough, handling feelings and emotions related to anxiety, nervousness, and success.

FACILITATORS: Sergio Barbosa & Jeff Mooney

Sergio has over 4 years of teaching experience in countries as diverse as China, India, England, and Canada. Before teaching, he worked for 6 years with Burnaby Neighbourhood House and led before-and-after-school programs and summer camps for school-age children. For his enthusiastic commitment to sports, he was selected to run with the torch during the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. 

Jeff has been teaching for 4 years and has worked in a variety of camps and summer programs. He enjoys sharing his love for hiking, camping, canoeing, and cooking with kids. He has led summer programs in Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Vancouver and has experience working with all ages from 5-18.  Jeff is thrilled to be involved with this camp and looks forward to meeting all of you.
